Lean Performance Measurement – Assessment
and Alignment
Frances KennedyGood
measurement in a lean organization doesn’t
come automatically and bad measurements can
undermine successfully reaching goals. The
impact of measures on people and performance
is complex and is especially critical during
times of change. It is critical to assess
whether your performance measures promote
lean decisions and behavior, as well as
ensure their alignment with strategic
objectives. In this workshop, we will use
two hands-on activities to help you assess
and align metrics in a lean organization.
-
Lean Assessment: You will learn the
three key attributes of a good measure
and how to diagnose the ‘leanness’ of
your own measurement system to determine
the strengths and weaknesses of your
performance measures. You will receive
an assessment instrument that you can
use in your organizations and will
assess one of your own measures during
the workshop.
-
Lean Alignment: Strategic alignment of
metrics is essential to effectively
reaching goals. Aligning performance
measures of cells and value streams with
company goals helps to focus efforts and
communicate priorities. You will have
the opportunity to practice an alignment
exercise that may be useful in your
organization.
The workshop is appropriate for CFO’s,
controllers, operations and accounting
managers whose company is implementing lean
practices in any manufacturing or service
industry.
