Making Decisions Without Unit Product Cost
Frances Kennedy and Michael Schoon

In a traditional system, many decisions are made using unit standard cost as a benchmark. Examples include special orders, make or buy, offshoring, pricing, and product mix decisions. As value stream costing is implemented and unit standard costs are no longer maintained, how are these decisions made? This session will present viable economic frameworks for these decisions, as well as examples and of how these frameworks have been successfully employed in companies.
